Mystery Iris Blooms!
I have been waiting, none too patiently, for this iris to bloom. It is one of several irises I received last year with the warning that the giver had no idea what colors were there; they'd been mixed. So, this is the first to bloom, and the other iris with buds appears to be the same color. The rest are lagging behind. Perhaps they are different? I think I will mark the yellow blooms just in case I've got a strange mixture. Then I can sort them if I want to/can find the time.

Beautiful Iris! Thanks for your kind comments on the "Burbs"! I am going to go look up the golden rain tree right now! Thank you so much for the suggestion. We have some kind of nut tree (no idea what the darn thing is as it never produces any real nuts) that blooms mid summer and the girls LOVE it! Your blog is lovely..
Lovely Iris! Thanks for stopping by at "Joy of Life" made me find your blogg to =) I'll be back / gittan
Beegirl and Gittan, Thanks so much for coming by! Beegirl- I am intrigued by your nutless nut tree. :) If you decide to post on that, toss up a couple pictures and let us guess what it could be. (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)
Gorgeous a sunny delight!
I like some of my Iris mixed - with different bloom times there's a splash of color extended a bit longer in the areas where they're grouped together. I also like mass plantings of the same variety - a huge wave of color is better than a splash :)
Mmm, my old neighbor had some yellow iris that smelled like lemony vanilla. Does yours have a scent? It's gorgeous.
I have to tell you, I heard John chuckling the other morning and it turns out he was reading your story of the dog/fence collision! He catches up from time to time on my blog and therefore some others. I was all, "hey, gimme the computer--she's my blog-friend!" ha ha. It was hilariously written anyway--even if it wasn't funny during the actual event.
Your blooms are fabulous and inspiring! Can't wait to see more unfold.
